What’s up, Doc?

I had originally intended to write a bit longer of a feature about some of the breweries I visited during my recent trip to Europe, but time is flying by and it’s about time I catch up with the posting.

Cases of Dr. Gab’s bottles

First up, Brasserie Docteur Gab’s! My aunt and cousins, who all live in Switzerland not too far from the brewery, were kind enough to take me to their production facility/tasting room. My aunt even said she recalls Dr. Gab’s humble beginnings and trying their beer in the parking lot of a garbage/recycling facility when they were first starting out. Their story is pretty impressive. I didn’t get to talk to any of the owners/brewers, but their website is full of info. They’ve been at it for over 20 years and counting! Not many craft breweries can say the same. Really cool!

Brasserie Docteur Gab’s – Puidoux, Switzerland

I’m not sure whether this is just my impression or that’s just the way they have it designed, but it didn’t seem to me like their tasting room was suited to cater to a lot of people at once. You first walk up to what looks like their outdoor break room. Nothing wrong with it; I loved the authenticity. Then you make your way into the tasting room where it looks like most customers would typically just grab bottles to go. The lady was nice enough to let me try quite a few of their brews, and we bought a variety pack to go.

Yours truly with cousin Robin Magnusson at Brasserie Docteur Gab’s in Puidoux, Switzerland

I had had the opportunity to try one of their beers once before my visit. My goddaughter/cousin, Marine Magnusson, had brought me one of their brews on a visit to the US a few years back. This time I got to indulge in plethora of styles they offer. Delightful!

Oh. One more thing. Their branding is absolutely genius and done extremely tastefully! Everything revolves around beer being a medicine. Almost all the beers are thought as treatments for specific “diagnoses.” Brilliant (and graphically on point)!

Here are a few photos of some of the beers I tried this time around:
