Fall Foliage Foray

There is really nothing like seeing the aspens in the fall. Ask any Coloradan. I had to raid the place for the views and the brews!

I used to say the same thing about the ocean or the sequoias in California. The east coast is not bad either. Every state’s got something to offer. But fall in Colorado…

Silverthorne, CO

I took a day trip from the Denver Metro to Vail yesterday. I’d driven by all those ski towns so many times but never stopped. Never enough time. Other places to be. I rectified that yesterday and spent some time in Vail, Frisco (that I had already seen many times, Silverthorne and Georgetown.

I went to a total of 7 breweries: 7 Hermits Brewing (in Vail), Vail Brewing Co., Outer Range Brewing Co., newly opened Syndicate Brewing Co., Angry James Brewery, Guanella Pass Brewery and Cabin Creek Brewing.

The craft beer community is just that… a community, and I will not talk trash about any of them. Let’s just say that the beer was on par almost everywhere, but some of the people may have forgotten what it’s like to be part of the big craft beer family. Kinda of disappointing (especially after all the hardships we’ve all gone through). So I will focus on what I loved and keep it positively craft:

Lancelot in Vail, CO
  • The place and the beer at Vail Brewing Co. Great taproom and outdoor patio. I went in with no expectations because I don’t think I had ever had their beers. I tried their Deck Daze Passionfruit Wheat onsite and brought a 4-pack of their Endless Summer Hazy home. Both were great!
  • Outer Range… What can I say? A staple in Colorado… and the country (and now beyond!). I had their Freshet Keller Pilsner in the taproom and brought a 4-pack of their freshly canned Steezy DDH home (I’ll try that soon).
  • Last but not least: Cabin Creek Brewing! What a view!!!!!! How many exclamation points can I really use without being obnoxious? Not enough! But that’s not all. Their Trail Tag Hazy IPA is one of the best hazies I’ve had in a while. Strata, Citra and Mosaic run the show in this one. Frankly it deserves a way better rating on Untappd.
